Residential Substance Abuse Treatment

What is Residential Substance Abuse Treatment?

The residential level of care is the most intensive type of treatment for substance use disorders (SUDs). In a residential substance use disorder treatment program like ours, patients receive a full day of treatment at least 5 days a week, sleeping at the clinical facility every night as well.

Residential rehab for addiction usually begins with an inpatient medical detox first, to get past the withdrawal period comfortably before regular residential treatment begins. Residential drug rehab is considered the best and most effective option for addiction treatment, especially for those who need detox and would benefit from 24-hour medical supervision.

Our Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Program

COMFORTABLE MEDICAL DETOX AND DUAL-DIAGNOSIS TREATMENT.

What Is Addiction?

Addiction, also known as substance use disorder (SUD), is a condition in which people habitually abuse substances in spite of negative consequences. People with a SUD will fixate on using their substance of choice, to the point that they will prioritize it over every other element of their lives.

An SUD often affects the way we think and live our lives. Substances hijack the brain’s natural reward pathways. They cause physical changes in our neurological system, resulting in intense cravings that can feel almost impossible to resist.

Anything that changes the way we feel has the potential to be habit-forming. It’s a popular misconception that you have to be physically dependent on a substance to be addicted. The truth is that any unhealthy relationship with mind-altering substances such as cocaine, heroin, and marijuana, has the potential to decimate your life.

Symptoms of Addiction

The symptoms of addiction can vary from person to person and from substance to substance. However, the unifying symptom is being aware that a substance or behavior is harming you but being unable to stop it.

Other symptoms of addiction include:

Social Problems

This could involve continuing to use a substance despite not knowing the strength or driving while impaired. Also, acquiring illicit drugs means dealing with criminals, which can be extremely dangerous.

Tolerance

As our bodies adjust to the presence of substances, they become more effective at clearing them from our systems. Research shows the brain receptors targeted by substances also become desensitized over time, leading many to require increased amounts of the substance to feel an effect.

Withdrawal

When the impact of substances wears off, withdrawal symptoms gradually arise. Different for every individual, common symptoms include feeling shaky, tired, angry, or depressed. You could also experience physical symptoms such as nausea, sweating, or seizures in extreme instances.

Trouble With Setting Limits

Being unable to set limits with substance consumption is a sign of addiction. For example, you might only set out to have one beer with dinner which results in a binge.

How Do We Treat Addiction?

At NP Addiction Clinic, we believe that getting to the root cause of the problem is always the best solution. We deliver customized treatment packages that focus on helping you heal holistically. During your time with us, we’ll fully support you. From your initial landing phase to long-term support, we’ve got the answers here.

Detoxification

The first phase of treatment usually involves a detox. This is where we allow your body to naturally remove all traces of substances in a controlled and safe environment. Certain substances, such as alcohol, opiates, and benzodiazepines, can cause severe withdrawal symptoms if unmedicated. Our highly trained clinical team will be on hand to prescribe any medication you require to make your first few weeks of recovery as comfortable as possible.

Addiction Treatment

We specialize in bespoke treatment packages to help you get back in touch with the real you. You’ll receive a customized blend of one-to-one and group therapy delivered by our highly skilled and compassionate therapists. How long you stay with us is up to you. Some of our clients stay for thirty days, some for sixty, and some for ninety. We’re partnered with a range of sober living facilities we can recommend when you decide to leave.

Specialized Treatment Offered at NP Addiction Clinic

At NP Addiction Clinic, we realize that everyone has different life circumstances, and we respect your individuality. We offer a range of programs that are tailored to your precise needs. These include:

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

When we identify that a substance addiction and a mental health problem coexist, this is called a dual diagnosis. This can be both causative and symptomatic, meaning that substance use can often cause mental health issues to arise and can also be an unhealthy coping strategy.

At NP Addiction Clinic, our goal is to treat both mental health and substance use simultaneously. We do this with a mixture of holistic therapy and medication if need be. You shouldn’t need to worry about your mental health causing you to fall back into old habits – we are determined to help you find a healthy way forward.

Specialist Pregnancy Addiction Treatment

Pregnancy is one of the most exciting things that can happen to us. However, if it coincides with addiction, it can also be one of the most worrying.

Being addicted while pregnant comes with some unique health challenges. You must stay healthy to deliver a healthy baby. You’re not alone however – every year, thousands of women find themselves in this very same position.

The Neuro Psychiatric Addiction Clinic is one of the few private programs in the country which can treat addicted pregnant mothers. In our Forgotten Moms Program, we treat pregnant women with addiction up to the second trimester. We can provide specialist detox treatment combined with medical support, nutritional guidance, and education to help you excel in both motherhood and recovery.

I am inspired by change and how resilient people can be. My favorite inspirational quote is “Some will, Some won’t, So what, NEXT!!!” This quote has inspired me to try, try, and try again no matter how hard life gets, someone will give you a chance eventually. At the end of the day, when all is said and done, my biggest goal for you is going to be simple….for you to no longer need my services. Why? Because if you no longer need my services, it means that you have regained your peace, you have regained your strength, you have regained your confidence. It means that you now have the tools to address any issues that try to derail you, and best of all, you will have the insight to overcome and thrive.
